Am I addicted to vicodin?

Well I'm 15 and my mom has had about 6 knee replacements on both of her knees. She also recently shattered her arm next to her elbow. She has been taking vicodin for pain ever since I can remember (she pretty much pops pills like Doctor House...), but she does it for pain, she's not addicted, although my dad is (she divorced him a long time ago). Addiction kind of runs in the family. Well, I've been taking 2 or 3 vicodin daily (I don't know the mg) for 4 days straight because it provides relief (emotionally), and I think much much clearer when I take it. So I wonder if I'm addicted, and if I am, what can I do? Can I just try to quit cold turkey without getting my parents or a psych involved?
