Ativan and alcohol question?

I hate flying and I have to take three flights tomorrow. My doctor gave me some Ativan to take. I have a three hour lay over around lunch time and am wondering if it will be safe to have a beer with a friend in combination with 0.5 mg of Ativan I am planning on taking around 9:30 am. Thanks.
